Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Raji Adetola, widely known as Sanku, has been confirmed dead following a ghastly car accident along Ogbomoso Road in Oyo State.
The accident, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, September 1, 2025, left several people injured.
Disturbing images and videos circulating online showed a mangled vehicle in a muddy ditch, with Sanku and his companion lying motionless at the scene.
Eyewitnesses said the victims were quickly rushed to hospital, but while his companion’s condition remains unclear, Sanku was later confirmed dead. Reports suggested his friend sustained critical injuries.

Reacting to the tragic news, actress Funmi Awelewa revealed that she had initially been informed that the skit maker was responding to treatment before his death was confirmed.
“When I saw the news online, I quickly sent one of my students who stays close to Bowen Hospital, and he told me that he met one of your friends at the hospital who told us that you’re responding to treatment. I prayed… God, we prayed!!! Kilowa de bai Oloun, Haa Olorun oba oo,” she wrote in a heartfelt post on Instagram.
Fellow content creators, including Ozain Comedy and Jidex, also took to Instagram and TikTok to pay tribute to their late colleague.

Sanku began his comedy journey in 2021 but rose to prominence in 2024, becoming a fan favourite with his unique style of skits.
Within a short period, he amassed over one million followers on TikTok, cementing his place as one of the fast-rising stars in Nigeria’s digital comedy space.
His untimely death has thrown fans, colleagues, and the entertainment industry into mourning.
