The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the recovery of the body of an unidentified woman from Jabi Lake in Abuja.
Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, disclosed the incident in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, noting that it was reported to Jabi Division around 10:37 a.m. on Saturday following a distress call from Jabi Lake Recreation.
According to him, police detectives who arrived at the scene found the body of a woman, believed to be about 60 years old, floating on the lake.

Sources at the scene said no signs of violence were observed on her body. However, a pair of green slippers suspected to belong to the deceased was found at the bank of the lake.
“Because the body was already decomposed, the Environmental Health Department was contacted to evacuate it to avoid health risks,” Makama stated.
The police confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the identity of the woman and the circumstances surrounding her death.
