Former Oyo State governor, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, will be officially crowned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, September 26, 2025.
Sources confirmed to Vanguard that Ladoja’s nomination received the formal approval of Governor Seyi Makinde, following the ratification by the Olubadan-in-Council.
Further confirmation came on Wednesday when a state government delegation visited the Olubadan-designate and members of the Olubadan-in-Council at his Bodija residence.
Speaking in a telephone interview, Ladoja’s media aide, Chief Adeola Oloko, said:
“Oba Ladoja will be enthroned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, 26 September 2025.”
The coronation ceremony will take place at the historic Mapo Hall, Ibadan, the traditional venue for such royal events.

On Tuesday, Ladoja hosted the Olubadan kingmakers at his private residence on Ondo Street, Old Bodija, Ibadan North Local Government Area.
The closed-door session, which lasted nearly two hours, marked his first official meeting with the council since his return to the throne race after the passing of his predecessor, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
During the meeting, the incoming monarch expressed gratitude to the kingmakers for their unanimous endorsement, assuring them of inclusiveness in his reign.
“I want to promise you that as Olubadan, I will run a collective and all-inclusive administration that will take into consideration your opinions,” Ladoja said.
The coronation is expected to attract top political leaders, royal fathers, and dignitaries from across Nigeria, as Ibadan prepares to celebrate one of its most illustrious sons ascending the ancient stool.
