A Magistrate Court in Zone 6, Abuja, has ordered the remand of self-acclaimed President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Arc Kabir Ibrahim, at the Keffi Correctional Centre.
Ibrahim is facing charges of joint act, impersonation, criminal intimidation, and inciting public disturbance brought against him by Dr. Farouk Rabiu Mudi, who emerged as AFAN’s duly elected president in 2021.
In her ruling, Justice Ekpeyong held that Kabir Ibrahim’s tenure as AFAN president had expired and that his continued claim to the office amounted to impersonation, contrary to Section 132 of the Penal Code.
She noted that both the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal had ruled against Ibrahim in earlier suits, affirming Mudi’s leadership.
The court further held that Ibrahim, acting with accomplices still at large, disrupted AFAN’s lawful activities and misled the public, thereby committing offences of criminal intimidation under Section 397 and inciting disturbance under Section 114 of the Penal Code.
Unable to meet bail conditions, the court ordered Ibrahim’s remand pending the determination of the case.

Reacting to the judgment, Dr. Mudi accused Ibrahim of sabotaging AFAN’s operations, including attempts to block support for sugar out grower farmers from the Nigeria Sugar Development Council and discouraging foreign investment in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
One of Ibrahim’s alleged accomplices, Chief Okafor, who also claimed to be AFAN Vice President, has been arrested by the police in Abuja. The court has directed security agencies to track down other accomplices nationwide.
The matter was adjourned for further hearing.
