Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has granted former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulaziz, bail in the sum of ₦200 million each over alleged terrorism and illegal firearms possession charges filed by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Despite the bail approval, the court ordered that both defendants remain at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the fulfilment of their bail conditions.
The ruling followed arguments presented by their lead counsel, Joseph Daudu, SAN, in support of their bail applications.
The judge directed each defendant to provide two sureties, including one who must own landed property in either Maitama or Asokoro, Abuja.
The property titles are to be deposited with the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court alongside valid international passports.

The sureties must also submit affidavits of means and recent passport photographs, while the defendants were ordered to surrender their international passports to the court. Justice Abdulmalik subsequently fixed March 4 for the commencement of trial.
The DSS had arraigned Malami and his son on a five-count charge, accusing the former AGF of allegedly abetting terrorism financing by failing to prosecute suspected financiers during his tenure, and alleging that both defendants unlawfully possessed firearms and ammunition at their residence in Kebbi State, contrary to provisions of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, and the Firearms Act, 2004.
