Tragedy struck in the Farawa community of Kano State on Monday night following the shocking death of a newly married man, Salisu, allegedly at the hands of his wife, Saudat, just 9days after their wedding.
The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the local community, occurred barely a week after the couple tied the knot on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Security operatives confirmed that the suspect, Saudat, has been apprehended and taken into custody.
According to reports aired by a local radio station monitored by our correspondent, the marriage was reportedly arranged by the couple’s relatives and allegedly lacked emotional connection between the spouses.
Salisu was said to have initially expressed misgivings about the union but was persuaded by family members to proceed.

Though details of the fatal altercation remain unclear, some community members claim that the suspect may have first poisoned Salisu before stabbing him during a heated argument. This narrative, however, has yet to be confirmed by the authorities.
The grisly incident sparked outrage in the community, with a mob of angry youths reportedly attempting to take justice into their own hands. Security personnel intervened just in time to prevent a lynching, ensuring the suspect was safely taken into police custody.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kano State Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding the incident. The motive and exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy remain under investigation.
