The investigative panel tasked with probing claims that convicted cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, was kept outside the custodial center while serving his six-month prison sentence, has dismissed the allegations.
The panel confirmed, however, that Bobrisky did receive certain privileges during his time in custody.
Uju Agomoh, Executive Director and founder of the Prisoners’ Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA), and a member of the panel, stated that the investigation found no evidence to support the accusation that Bobrisky stayed outside prison during his sentence, which spanned from April 12, 2024, to August 5, 2024.

“The panel did not find any evidence thus far that suggested Mr. Okuneye slept outside the custodial center during the period of his imprisonment,” Agomoh said.
She further clarified that Bobrisky served his full sentence with the usual remission applicable to such cases, addressing concerns that he may have avoided staying in the prison during his detention.
The panel’s report puts to rest rumors that had circulated about preferential treatment outside the normal custodial system for the controversial figure.
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, inaugurated the panel in Abuja on Monday, September 30 following the relesse of an audio by VDM where Bobrisky claimed to have served his sentence in a flat near the prison
