Board Denies Publication On Nigeria Immigration Service Recruitment

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board has disowned an online publication claiming that recruitment is underway for the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

The board’s secretary, Ja’afaru Ahmed, clarified in a statement on Monday that the current recruitment efforts are solely focused on the Federal Fire Service (FFS).

Ahmed emphasized, “For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to inform the general public that the board is currently carrying out a recruitment process in the FFS only. It will commence the next stage of the exercise in August and conclude the same before the end of September.”

This clarification follows an announcement from the Federal Government on Sunday that the next stage of the recruitment exercise for both the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Federal Fire Service would begin in August. Ahmed’s statement confirms that while the FFS recruitment will proceed as planned, there are no ongoing recruitment activities for the NIS at this time.

“The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board wishes to inform the general public that it will commence the next stage of the recruitment exercise in August and will conclude the exercise before the end of September 2024,” Ahmed reiterated. He also assured that all shortlisted candidates would be notified of the next stage through their contact details.

Ahmed apologized for the delay in completing the recruitment process, originally scheduled to conclude on June 15, 2024. The delay was due to a nationwide manpower audit conducted across various services under the board, including the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

“The board wishes to apologize for its inability to complete the process by June 15, 2024, as earlier intended.

This is due to a nationwide manpower audit exercise carried out in the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, which was just recently concluded,” Ahmed explained.

He assured that all shortlisted candidates would be informed of the next steps via their phone numbers and email addresses.

This announcement aims to correct misinformation and ensure the public is accurately informed about the board’s recruitment activities.
