BANDITS

Bandits have reportedly attacked a mosque in Gusau, capital of Zamfara state, and abducted scores of worshippers.

Grassroots Parrot reports that the attack was carried out on Tuesday morning when Muslim faithful were observing the famous congregational prayer, Tahajjud.

Tahajjud is special prayer being observed by Muslims in every last 10 days of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

A Maiduguri-based security expert, Zagazola Makama, raised an alarm that bandits sneaked into Gusau town to abduct several worshippers in a mosque while observing midnight prayers around 2 am.

Makama posted on his X (formerly twitter) account “Sad. In the early morning of Tuesday at about 0200hr, bandit sneaked into Gusau Town and abducted several worshippers in a Mosque while they were observing tahajjud (midnight) prayers.”

The security operatives are yet to confirm the latest attack.

Similarly, the Zamfara State Police Command on Tuesday said bandits attacked and killed a man identified as Ashiru Nagoma and abducted his wife and neighbour in Buluku, an outskirt of Gusau Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson for the command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed to newsmen on Tuesday.

Zamfara has been under intense attack since bandits began their campaign of violence in the North West State.
