TARABA UNIVERSITY

The Management of the Federal University Wukari, in Taraba State has confirmed the abduction of its two students.

Grassroots Parrot reports that the students – a male and female – were abducted on Monday night in Wukari by suspected herdsmen.

Confirming the abduction on Tuesday, the institution’s Chief Security Officer, Sule Gani, said the incident occurred around 11 pm around the school premises.

Gani added that the victims graduated but stayed behind to remedy some of their courses.

According to him, “They are spill-over students. He came out to buy something and some suspected herdsmen carried him and a lady and took them away.”

The Taraba State Police Command and other security agency have not confirmed the latest attack.

This came days after the Cross River Police Command also confirmed the abduction of three students of the University of Calabar (Unical).

The spokesperson of the command, SP Irene Ugbo, who gave the confirmation, said the students were abducted on Thursday night at one of the university hostels inside the campus.

Ugbo, who did not give details of the abduction, however, said the police were working in collaboration with other agencies to rescue the students.
