The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has uncovered a major drug trafficking operation, intercepting cocaine hidden inside the heads of imported dry stock fish and arresting a suspected kingpin in Lagos.
According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the operation followed intelligence on cross-border criminal activity and led to the arrest of 36-year-old Akputa Dickson Ejike.
A total of 237 wraps of cocaine, weighing 5.8kg, were concealed in “okporoko” and intended for export to Delhi, India.

In separate operations, NDLEA also intercepted drug consignments bound for the United Kingdom, including methamphetamine hidden in automobile parts and controlled substances like morphine and fentanyl.
Further raids across multiple states led to several arrests and large seizures of cannabis, including operations in Ekiti, Ondo, Benue, Edo, and Taraba states, as well as the arrest of suspected traffickers such as Omolade Jolayemi and others.
NDLEA Chairman, Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended officers for their efforts, noting the agency’s continued focus on both drug supply reduction and public awareness campaigns nationwide.
