BANDITS

Bandits late Saturday night unleashed terror on Yankamaye village in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State, killing an elderly woman and abducting three residents in a coordinated attack that has left the community in fear.

The attackers reportedly stormed the village around midnight, riding on motorcycles before disembarking at the outskirts and proceeding on foot to evade detection. Many residents were already asleep when the gunmen broke into homes, shooting sporadically.

According to eyewitnesses, the bandits first targeted a residence where they killed an elderly woman. They then moved to another house, abducting two women, including the sister-in-law of the ward councillor. A third victim was also taken during the raid.

The Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident, assuring that security operatives had been deployed to track down the assailants.

“We are doing everything possible to rescue the kidnapped victims and restore calm to the area,” Kiyawa stated.

He added that the police and other security agencies were already combing nearby forests believed to be possible hideouts for the attackers.

The incident has thrown Yankamaye community into panic, with residents calling for heightened security and swift action to curb the rising bandit attacks in kano state.
