Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, has landed in Kazan, Russia, for the 2025 International Property Market Exhibition and Conference.

The event was held under the umbrella of the Russia–Islamic World: Kazan Forum—a global platform connecting policymakers, investors, and urban development leaders.

Speaking through his media aide Seyi Olorunsola, the annual conference, renowned for driving dialogue on sustainable urbanization and real estate investment, serves as a crucial bridge between Russia and countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

This year’s theme, “Russia – Islamic – Kazan Forum,” underscores the growing importance of economic partnerships across the Islamic world. As Africa’s most populous country with one of the largest Muslim populations globally, Nigeria’s presence at the forum is seen as both strategic and symbolic.

Minister Ata, who is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the International Economic Forum segment of the event, where he will highlight President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Housing Programme—a bold initiative aimed at addressing Nigeria’s longstanding housing deficit, expanding access to affordable homes, and promoting job creation and inclusive economic growth.

“This visit is a strategic move to position Nigeria’s housing sector as an attractive destination for global investment.”

“We are showcasing a bold vision that aligns with international standards and aims to provide millions of Nigerians with access to safe, affordable housing,” the minister said prior to his departure.

The minister’s agenda also includes participation in a high-level roundtable discussion with international investors, real estate developers, and urban infrastructure experts. The session will focus on unlocking capital, technical expertise, and innovation through global partnerships to accelerate Nigeria’s housing development ambitions.

This marks the minister’s first official international engagement since his appointment on November 3, 2024—signaling the federal government’s intent to globalize the housing reform agenda and build international confidence in its long-term impact.

“Nigeria’s participation in this exhibition is a signal to the world that we are open for housing investment and ready to collaborate for mutual benefit,” Ata affirmed.

“We are determined to attract partnerships that will not only deliver homes but also strengthen our economy and uplift millions of lives.”

Through its presence at the Kazan forum, Nigeria seeks to showcase its national housing blueprint and public-private partnership models, attract foreign direct investment into large-scale affordable housing projects, exchange knowledge with other nations on urban development challenges, and also reinforce the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s national and international development strategy.
