Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has issued an executive order mandating property owners in Kwankwasiyya, Amana, and Bandirawo cities to occupy their properties within three months or risk revocation.
The directive, announced on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, is part of the administration’s broader strategy to enhance urban development and ensure optimal utilization of these planned residential areas.
Governor Yusuf emphasized that these estates were developed to drive Kano’s economic growth and improve housing accessibility.

He urged property owners who are unable to relocate to consider renting out their homes, thereby ensuring that the estates are actively inhabited.
The governor highlighted the state government’s substantial investments in infrastructure, including roads, water supply, and electricity, to make the estates habitable.
He noted that these developments are designed to provide a conducive living environment and accelerate urban expansion in the state.
As part of the directive, the Kano State Ministry of Housing Development is set to take over the current headquarters of the Housing Corporation.

The corporation will subsequently relocate to Kwankwasiyya City, reinforcing the government’s commitment to strengthening the real estate sector and fostering sustainable development.
This move underscores the state government’s determination to address issues of underutilized housing projects and promote efficient land use within Kano.
The administration has called on property owners to comply with the directive within the stipulated time to avoid the risk of revocation.
