The lawmaker representing Kogi Central, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of soliciting a romantic relationship with her, leading to alleged persistent harassment in the Senate.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV on Friday, February 28, 2025, Senator Natasha claimed that her rejection of Akpabio’s alleged advances resulted in deliberate obstruction of her legislative motions.
According to her, the Senate President consistently blocked her proposals from being heard on the floor, and some colleagues advised her to meet Akpabio privately in his office.

However, during her visit to his office, Natasha alleged that Akpabio, a former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, implied she would receive significant benefits if she “takes care of him.”
She described the encounter as an attempt to pressure her into a personal relationship in exchange for legislative support.
The controversy between the two lawmakers escalated further last Thursday when Natasha clashed with Akpabio during plenary proceedings after refusing to use the seat allocated to her.
The tension culminated in her filing a lawsuit against the Senate President at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja.
In the suit, filed by her lawyer, Victor Giwa, Akpabio and his Senior Legislative Aide, Mfon Patrick, were listed as defendants on charges of defamation.

Amid the unfolding drama, Ahmed Isah, popularly known as “Ordinary President” and host of the Brekete Family Human Rights Radio and Television programme, has intervened, calling for a resolution between the parties.
Speaking on his programme on Wednesday, Isah pleaded with Senator Natasha to drop the court case and allow him to mediate between her and Akpabio in hopes of finding an amicable resolution.
