Security outfit in Anambra state, ‘Operation Udo Ga-Achi,’ also known as ‘Agunechemba,’ has demolished Udoka Golden Point Hotel and Suites, popularly referred to as “La Cruise Hotel.”

The hotel, located along Onitsha-Owerri Road, was reportedly a hub for kidnappers and other criminals.

A statement released by the Anambra State New Media on Saturday night confirmed that the hotel’s top floor contained well-partitioned graves of over 30 individuals, along with a shrine used for criminal activities.

The statement also revealed that the discovery followed a detailed investigation by the security outfit, the crackdown was part of Agunechemba’s intensified efforts to dismantle criminal networks in the state.

In a video clip circulating online showed the leader of the security team explaining the findings. “They have their shrine and live cartridges and ammunition were recovered when we were removing the pot. The pot is presently at the SARS Office in Awkuzu,” the leader said.

“The pot has blood content, and we recovered some live ammunition and cartridges from the site, which have been handed over to the police at IRS in Awkuzu as evidence.”

The security team also highlighted the presence of feathers and other ritualistic items, alongside the partitioned graves on the hotel’s top floor. These findings reveals the extent of criminal operations allegedly carried out within the premises.

Chief Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Mr. Christian Aburime, confirmed the demolition. He explained that the decision was based on concrete evidence linking the hotel to criminal activities.

“The hotel was destroyed because investigations revealed it as a kidnappers’ den. A lot of incriminating items were discovered, including graves, army uniforms, live cartridges, and other evidence,” he stated.

Aburime further commended the operation, noting that the local community had long complained about suspicious activities and gunshots emanating from the hotel.

He acknowledged the challenges residents faced in reporting such incidents due to fear of retaliation. However, he assured that the state’s new Homeland Security Law 2025 provides a framework for better protection of informants and increased efficiency in tackling crime.

“We are making significant progress in ridding the state of criminals. This drastic action is yielding positive results.

More buildings will be destroyed if investigations reveal they are connected to kidnapping, robbery, or hired killings. The owners of such properties will also face prosecution,” Aburime added.

The demolition has reportedly brought relief to the local community, who expressed gratitude for the government’s intervention.

This operation is one among several ongoing efforts by Agunechemba to enhance security and restore peace across Anambra State.
