Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Davido has expressed admiration for the democratic process in the United States, contrasting it with Nigeria’s electoral system.
During an interview on The Morning Hustle Show, the globally acclaimed artiste shared his experience participating in the recent US presidential election.
Davido, who holds dual citizenship in both the US and Nigeria, revealed that he cast his vote for Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party candidate.
The 32-year-old hitmaker explained that his decision was driven by a desire to witness the United States elect its first female president during his lifetime.

“I voted for Kamala because I wanted to see America have its first female president. It would be amazing to see that happen while I’m alive,” Davido stated.
Reflecting on the election, Davido praised the US system as a true reflection of the people’s will. He contrasted it with Nigeria’s electoral process, which he implied lacks the same level of transparency and integrity.
“What I like about America is that there is true democracy. Where I come from [Nigeria], it’s not so,” he said. “The truth is people voted for him [Donald Trump]. I voted for Kamala. People voted, so whatever happens, happens.”
Despite Donald Trump narrowly winning the election, Davido expressed respect for the process, emphasizing its seamless nature and credibility.
