All roads link to Edo State on Saturday as voters in the state are set to cast their votes in the governorship election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had cleared 17 parties for the September 21st election as candidates battled to take over the reins of leadership from incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki. His tenure ends in November.
Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Monday Okpebholo; and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) are the major contenders for the battle.
The election will be held in 4,519 polling units across the 18 local government areas of Edo State.
However, the information reaching Grassroots Parrot indicates that INEC has started experiencing the usual issues of logistics and late arrival of election materials.
Some election observers, currently monitoring the process in Oredo local government area of the state, said INEC officials are having logistics challenges.

One of the observers spoke on the Arise TV live program monitored by Grassroots Parrot, noted that the INEC officials have been waiting for vehicles to convey the election materials to the about 21 units, but to no avail.
The observer pointed out that the Oredo LGA is situated within Benin City, wondering what would have been happening to other LGAs on the outskirts of the state.
“Voters are currently stranded; security agents, party agents, and election observers are fully around but there are no election materials at a location that serves about 21 units.” He said.
Also at the Ewohinmi polling unit where the PDP candidate will be casting his vote, INEC officials are yet to arrive in the area as of the time of filing this report around 9 a.m.
