A 94-year-old Adedapo Idowu has taken a bold step towards fulfilling his lifelong dream of studying Political Science at the University of Ibadan by registering for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Idowu completed his registration at the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Professional Test Center in Ibadan, Oyo State, and expressed his excitement about the smooth and efficient process.
“I can now attain my dream at an advanced age. The registration staff gave me a sense of belonging through the warm reception at the registration venue,” he remarked.
The 2025 UTME registration commenced on January 31, and so far, over 700,000 candidates have registered, including 11,000 underage applicants, according to JAMB’s latest report.

Idowu’s unique story was featured in the board’s latest bulletin, highlighting his determination to pursue higher education despite his advanced age.
Speaking on his experience, Idowu revealed that his initial fears about enrolling in a university at 94 were alleviated after going through the seamless registration process.
He commended JAMB for its efficient use of technology, particularly the integration of the National Identity Number (NIN), which he said simplified data collection and made the process user-friendly.
Encouraging fellow candidates, Idowu advised them to uphold professionalism and contentment in their academic journey.

He also urged JAMB to continue ensuring inclusive access to education, particularly for the elderly, underprivileged individuals, and persons with disabilities.
