The Kano State Police Command has successfully apprehended a suspected kidnapper, Abubakar Musa, and rescued a two-year-old victim, Al’amin Ahmad Garba.
The arrest and rescue operation was disclosed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in a statement issued on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
According to the statement, the suspect, a 25-year-old resident of Rijiyar Lemo Quarters, Kano, allegedly abducted the toddler and demanded a ransom of fifty million naira (N50,000,000) for his release. The arrest was the result of a sustained follow-up and intelligence-led operation by the police.
“The suspect was arrested on December 25, 2024, following meticulous investigative efforts,” SP Kiyawa stated. “The victim was rescued from a house in Unguwar Liman, Dorayi Quarters, Kano, where he had been hidden for three days.

He was immediately rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital Kano for medical examination and treatment before being discharged and reunited with his family.”
Abubakar Musa was subsequently arraigned at Magistrate Court Number 25, Nomansland, Kano, on January 3, 2025. The court ordered his remand while further investigations and legal proceedings are underway.
The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba, lauded the swift efforts of the officers involved in the operation.
