No fewer than twelve people have been confirmed dead in a ghastly motor accident involving a Kano Line passenger bus and a tanker at Darki town in Wudil Local Government Area of Kano State.
The tragic incident occurred along the busy Kano–Gombe Road, when a tanker driver, reportedly working on a road construction project, allegedly made a sudden turn in the middle of the highway.
According to eyewitnesses, the Kano-bound bus was unable to avoid a collision and rammed into the tanker, resulting in multiple fatalities on the spot.
Confirming the incident, the Director of Kano Line, Alhaji Sa’idu Abdullahi Shu’aibu, described the accident as devastating and expressed profound sorrow over the loss of lives.

“Out of the 16 passengers on board, 12 reportedly died instantly, including two of our drivers, Alhaji Sabo and Alhaji Dan Azumi,” Shu’aibu said. “Five others — four women and one man — sustained severe injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.”
He extended condolences to the bereaved families and to Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, describing the tragedy as a painful loss not only to the transport company but also to the entire state.
“We are heartbroken by this unfortunate accident. Our prayers are with the victims’ families. May Almighty Allah grant the deceased eternal rest and quick recovery to the injured,” he added.

Shu’aibu further called for stricter road safety measures and improved regulation of vehicles involved in construction projects along major highways, noting that such incidents could be avoided with better traffic control and driver awareness.
Authorities have reportedly launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine liability and prevent future occurrences.
