The Chief Imam of Lagos Central Mosque, Sheikh Ridhwan Jamiu, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership, stating that the president has not disappointed Nigerians.

The cleric made this assertion on Friday during the Juma’at prayer at the Lekki Central Mosque in Lagos, with President Tinubu in attendance.

Addressing the congregation, Sheikh Jamiu expressed gratitude to Allah for President Tinubu’s leadership and reaffirmed the confidence many Nigerians had placed in him during the elections.

“We are proud of you. I remember that we encouraged people to vote for you during the campaigns,” the Chief Imam said.

“We thank God that you have not disappointed us. We know you are capable. We know you have the sagacity. We know you are competent. We believe and pray that you are not going to disappoint us.”

Sheikh Jamiu also offered prayers for the president, asking for Allah’s guidance and blessings as Tinubu continues to lead the nation.

“May Allah continue to be with you. Allah has entrusted Nigeria to you and will ask you for this trust,” he added.

The cleric urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in gratitude during good times and exhibit patience during challenging periods. He emphasized that unwavering faith and hope are essential qualities for believers, even in difficult times.

The Chief Imam further assured President Tinubu of the steadfast prayers and support of the Muslim community. He reminded the president of the dual obligations of responsibility to the people and accountability to Allah.

“Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, ‘The most beloved of all people to Allah is the righteous and just leader.’ We have seen righteousness in you and fairness and justice in you. Please keep it up and sustain it,” Sheikh Jamiu noted.

Highlighting the president’s name, Ahmed, which means “worthy of praise,” the cleric expressed hope that Tinubu’s past commendable actions would reflect in his current leadership.

The Juma’at prayer marked President Tinubu’s first public outing since his attendance at prayers at the Alausa Central Mosque on December 20.

The president had recently returned to Lagos on December 18 after presenting the 2025 budget to the National Assembly.

In the wake of the tragic stampedes in Oyo, Anambra, and the Federal Capital Territory, which claimed several lives, Tinubu canceled public engagements as a mark of respect for the victims.

On December 23, President Tinubu hosted the inaugural Presidential Media Chat at his Oyinkan Abayomi Drive residence in Ikoyi. As part of the festive season, he has also been receiving private visitors daily at his Lagos residence.
