The Kano State Police Command has arrested 78 suspects involved in various criminal activities across the state, according to Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
Grassroots Parrots reports that the arrests were part of the ongoing security operations; those arrested include five armed robbers, seven drug dealers, one cattle rustler, four fraudsters, 13 thieves, and 48 suspected thugs, commonly known as Yan Daba.
According to reports, security operatives recovered a cache of weapons, including two Beretta pistols with 10 rounds of live ammunition, 12 cutlasses, and 15 knives.
The police also seized large quantities of hard drugs, which included four cartons and four sachets of Pregabalin tablets, 63 Diazepam tablets, 47 Tramadol tablets, three cartons of Pentazocine injection, 25 bottles of codeine syrup, as well as five parcels and 65 wraps of dried cannabis.

In addition to the weapons and drugs, other recovered items include eight vehicles, three tricycles, two motorcycles, 198 pieces of counterfeit US dollar notes, and N311,000 in fake naira notes.
Also seized were 12 mobile phones, five sheep, two rams, an alternator generator, and nine pieces of wrappers, among various household items.
Commissioner Bakori attributed the success of the recent crackdown to the command’s restructured crime-fighting strategies, which are in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
These strategies include the operational sectorization of the state for round-the-clock visibility patrols, enhanced response to distress calls, inter-agency collaborations, intelligence-led raids, and community policing initiatives.

The commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining public safety and warned that criminal elements would continue to face the full weight of the law.
