Vice Admiral Ibok-ete Ibas (retd.), the newly appointed Sole Administrator for Rivers State, has officially arrived in the state to begin his duties following the declaration of emergency rule.
Ibas landed at Port Harcourt International Airport at approximately 11:25 am on Thursday, where he was welcomed by senior officials and security personnel.
His arrival marks the formal commencement of the federal government’s direct administration of the state.
Upon arrival, the sole administrator was escorted to Government House, Port Harcourt by the state Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, and the Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone 16.

Government officials then conducted him around the premises to familiarize him with the facilities.
The retired naval officer, who was sworn in by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, immediately convened a closed-door meeting with senior security officers, representatives from the Federal Government, and state government officials.
This development follows the controversial emergency declaration in Rivers State that resulted in the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other elected officials.
