The Bauchi State Government has approved the immediate removal of the principal of Government Day Secondary School, Kirfi, Malam Musa Ahmed Ningi, over allegations of gross misconduct.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Bauchi State Teachers’ Service Commission, Garba Muhammad Bashe, and made available to journalists on Thursday by the commission’s Information Officer, Dahiru Adamu.
According to the statement, a senior teacher in the school, Adamu Shehu, was also removed after being found guilty of colluding with the principal to illegally sell government properties belonging to the institution.
Items reportedly sold by the duo include 32 scrap students’ beds, nine jumbo aluminum cooking pots, and an unspecified number of roofing zinc sheets.

A four-man investigative panel set up by the commission found both officers guilty of the allegations. Consequently, the Commission approved their demotion by one grade level and ordered their transfer to different schools as part of disciplinary measures.
Furthermore, both officers have been directed to refund the estimated value of the sold items, amounting to ₦597,000, while the principal is required to pay an additional ₦72,000 to settle outstanding allowances owed to casual workers of the school.
The Commission vowed to work closely with security agencies to recover stolen items and ensure that all public school administrators in the state are held accountable for their actions.
