The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued a woman and her three children, aged 8, 3, and 9 months, from a violent domestic incident in Mpape, Abuja.
Police arrested the children’s father, 45-year-old contractor Mr. David Tersoo, after a distress call was placed to the Command on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
According to the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, Commissioner of Police CP Adewale Ajao immediately deployed the Divisional Police Officer of Mpape Division alongside operatives from the Command’s Gender Unit to the scene, working in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs.
“The children were rescued; one of them was found with visible bruises. Their mother was later traced and placed in protective custody with her children,” Adeh said in a statement.

The suspect, described as having a history of domestic abuse, reportedly locked himself behind a bulletproof door while armed during the police intervention. After sustained efforts, he was subdued and arrested without casualties.
A pump-action firearm, white powder, and other substances suspected to be illicit drugs were recovered from him. Police confirmed that Tersoo has been taken in for drug testing as part of ongoing investigations.
CP Ajao commended the swift intervention of the Ministry of Women Affairs and vigilant neighbours whose prompt action prevented the situation from escalating into tragedy.
He urged victims of domestic violence to speak up and assured residents that the FCT Command remains committed to protecting lives and delivering justice. Police say investigations into the case are ongoing.
