The Oyo State Police Command announced on Friday the arrest of Muyideen Raimi for exhuming and decapitating his late cousin, Sulaiman Aromokun, in a case that has left the community in shock.
Raimi, who allegedly committed the heinous act with an accomplice currently at large, exhumed his cousin’s corpse from the Aromokun compound in Isale Ijebu, Ibadan, and beheaded him for ritual purposes.
While parading Raimi at the command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, the Commissioner of Police revealed the grisly details. “The police have arrested Muyideen Raimi for exhuming and decapitating his late cousin, Sulaiman Aromokun, who was buried at the Aromokun compound in Isale Ijebu, Ibadan,” the Commissioner stated.

Raimi was apprehended in possession of the severed head and confessed to the crime, implicating an accomplice identified as Sumaila, also known as Baba Ibeji, who remains at large. According to Raimi, the severed skull was intended for use in a money ritual. The police have launched an investigation, and further developments are expected.
In a separate case, the Oyo State Police Command also paraded another suspect, Muhammad Adekunle, for allegedly killing people and selling their body parts in Ibadan. According to police reports, Adekunle, along with accomplices Lukman, Olobe, and Ifa—who are currently at large—conspired to murder individuals for ritual purposes.
One of the gruesome cases occurred in January 2024, when Adekunle and his accomplices lured Adekola Sodiq to Moniya, where they severed his head and legs. These body parts were later sold to buyers identified as Obaleye Sanmi and Ismail Olalekan.

Further investigations revealed that on August 7, 2024, Adekunle and his gang murdered Malik Kareem, severed his head and legs, and sold them to Rashidat Akanji at Oje Market for N70,000.
On August 11, 2024, police executed a search warrant at Adekunle’s premises, uncovering fresh human flesh. Adekunle confessed that the flesh was part of Malik Kareem, whom they had killed just days earlier.
The investigation also led to the arrest of suspects Muniru Salawudeen, Rashidat Akanji, Ismail Olalekan, and Obaleye Sanmi. They all confessed to purchasing various human parts from Adekunle for ritualistic purposes.

In another shocking discovery, the police responded to a report from the Ayede community on August 10, 2024, where a strong offensive odor was detected emanating from a building owned by Adekunle. Upon investigation, police operatives found a dry well containing mutilated human remains. The remains of three unidentified bodies were removed and sent to the State Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy.
This series of horrific crimes has sparked outrage and fear within the community, highlighting the ongoing challenge of ritualistic practices in the state.
The Oyo State Police Command has vowed to intensify its efforts to bring all perpetrators to justice and curb the rising trend of such gruesome activities.
