The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has reaffirmed his commitment to the installation of Munir Sanusi as the District Head of Bichi, assuring that the ceremony will proceed despite recent disruptions.
Speaking on Wednesday during a solidarity visit by a delegation from Bichi, Emir Sanusi emphasized that last week’s incident, which saw heavy security operatives block the Kofar Kudu Emir’s palace, would not derail the plans.
Recall last Friday, personnel from the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) sealed off the Kofar Kudu palace to prevent Emir Sanusi from accompanying the new Wambai of Kano and District Head of Bichi to assume office at the Bichi palace.

The blockade caused restrictions on movement in and out of the palace, raising tensions in the emirate.
Describing the incident as a temporary setback, Emir Sanusi reassured the delegation:
“This incident is only a distraction. We do not know why it happened, and those involved have not provided any explanations.
However, it will not stop anything. I assure you that another date will be fixed for the installation, and your District Head will be brought to you peacefully.
Inform the public to remain peaceful and prayerful. Whatever the situation, peace and prayers will guide us through to the end.”

The Chairman of Bichi Local Government, Hamza Sule, led the delegation to the Emir, dismissing rumors of unrest in Bichi and pledging full support for Munir Sanusi’s appointment.
“We are here to show our support and allegiance to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
There were rumors suggesting unrest in Bichi, but we are here to make it clear that we are fully supportive.
We are one hundred percent behind the appointment of Munir Sanusi as District Head of Bichi,” Sule said.
He clarified that residents of Bichi were eagerly awaiting the arrival of their new District Head and dismissed any notion of opposition or violence.

The Bichi Emirate is one of four emirates created in 2019 by former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, following the division of the old Kano Emirate.
However, the emirates were dissolved earlier this year by Governor Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
The installation of Munir Sanusi as District Head is seen as a significant step for the Bichi Emirate amid the ongoing restructuring of Kano’s traditional institutions.
Despite challenges, the Emirate remains united in support of its leadership and new appointees.
