A Nigerian, Chef Gladys Abulu has been declared winner of the recently concluded West African food festival held in Lome, Togo.

Chef Abulu emerged winner for the second time in a row after winning the previous edition of the competition which held in Lagos, Nigeria.

At the food festival, Chef Gladys Abulu baked 32 varieties of bread over a given period of time by the judges, meeting target set by the organisers of the competition to bring Nigeria the honour.

The Chef who is also the Chief Chef and Chief Instructor at an Abuja based White Dish Culinary Academy, took home the trophy ahead of other contestants last year.

Grassroots Parrot gathered that this year’s edition of the competition was tensed, attracting several participants from other countries with lots of guests knowing about Abulu’s prowess after emerging champion in Nigeria last year.

One of the contestants said “she came prepared to beat Gladys but she noticed however that she changed the game by mixing all her ingredients with hands while many were using mixers”.

The development took many spectators and judges by surprise couple with her accuracy in measurements which gave her an edge over other competitors.

Speaking on the feat, Chef Gladys Abulu said “the Nigerian flag is flying higher in Lome, Togo with this win as Nigeria is the best in bread production in the whole of West Africa”.
