Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, has approved the disengagement of 30 special advisers as part of a sweeping move to restructure the state’s governance framework.
The development was disclosed on Tuesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, who said the decision aligns with efforts to revamp the administration and improve service delivery in line with the governor’s New Niger agenda.
According to the statement, the disengagement was announced during Governor Bago’s maiden State Executive Council meeting with the newly inaugurated commissioners at the Government House in Minna.
Bologi explained that the move was aimed at repositioning government operations for greater effectiveness and efficiency.

“The termination of their appointment was to allow the governor to rejig and reposition their portfolios with a view to making them more effective and efficient in line with his New Niger agenda,” he said.
He added that no details were provided on possible replacements, fresh appointments or reassignment of the affected advisers.
Governor Bago, however, expressed appreciation to the disengaged aides for their sacrifices and contributions to the administration, while wishing them success in their future endeavours.
The development signals the governor’s determination to streamline governance structures and strengthen his policy direction as his administration moves forward.
