An officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, sustained injuries during a targeted operation to apprehend two suspected drug dealers in the Bebeji Local Government Area of the state.
The NDLEA spokesperson in the state, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, disclosed the incident in a statement issued on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
The operation, carried out on January 20, 2025, at Rahama Roundabout, led to the arrest of Musa Usman, 25, and Buhari Ya’u Bashir, 24.
Authorities seized various illicit substances, including 1.1 kilograms of cannabis sativa, eight grams (38 tablets) of diazepam, and 59 grams (165 tablets) of Exol.

According to Maigatari, Musa Usman resisted arrest and attacked one of the officers with a dagger, causing a stab injury. Despite the assault, the NDLEA team successfully subdued the suspects.
Reacting to the incident, the NDLEA State Commander, Abubakar Idris Ahmad, condemned the attack and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to its mandate of combating drug abuse and trafficking.
“Attacks on law enforcement officers in the line of duty will not deter us from carrying out our mission to rid society of the scourge of drug abuse and trafficking,” Ahmad stated.
He assured the public that the suspects, currently in NDLEA custody, would face charges for drug-related offences and assaulting a law enforcement officer.
