The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano State Command has successfully apprehended a 75-year-old man, Nuhu Baba, in a major anti-drug operation in Tumbau Village, Gezawa Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, revealing that the operation led to the recovery of various illicit substances, including Tramadol, Cannabis Sativa, Diazepam, Exol-5, and Rubber Solution.
“Upon investigation, Nuhu Baba confessed to the authorities that he had been engaged in this illicit trade for the past two years as a means of sustaining his livelihood,” the statement read.

Authorities emphasized that this arrest highlights the far-reaching impact of drug trafficking and abuse, affecting individuals across all age groups, including the elderly.
The NDLEA reiterated its commitment to tackling drug-related crimes and called for increased community participation in the fight against substance abuse.
State Commander CN AI Ahmad reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to combating drug trafficking in the state, stressing the need for public cooperation.
“The NDLEA Kano Command continues to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking,” Ahmad stated.
