Natasha To Akpabio: Senate Was Earned Through Elections, Not Erections

Suspended lawmaker representing Kogi Central, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, on Sunday issued a highly satirical “apology” to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, following her earlier allegations of sexual harassment against him.

While appearing to tender an unreserved apology in a letter made available to newsmen in Abuja, Natasha’s tone was unmistakably sarcastic.

Grassroots Parrot reports that the letter comes just days after Akpabio led a Federal Government delegation to the Vatican for the funeral of the late Pope Francis.

Natasha, who was suspended by the Senate on March 6 after a heated dispute over seating arrangements she described as a ploy to undermine her, used the opportunity to criticize what she called a culture of entitlement within the Senate leadership.

In her letter, she wrote, “It is with the deepest sarcasm and utmost theatrical regret that I tender this apology for the grievous crime of possessing dignity and self-respect in your most exalted presence.”

She further accused Akpabio of fostering a system where “compliance of a very personal kind” was valued over competence, and where legislative success was linked to personal favors rather than merit.

The letter continued with biting remarks, stating, “Please find it in your magnanimous heart — somewhere buried deep beneath layers of entitlement — to forgive this stubborn woman who mistakenly believed that her seat in the Senate was earned through elections, not erections.”

Senator Natasha signed off her letter defiantly, describing herself as “Unafraid, Unbought, and Unbroken,” reinforcing her position against alleged misconduct in the Senate leadership.
