In commemoration of International Estate Valuation Day, celebrated annually on March 5, a high-powered delegation from the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Yusuf Atah, at his office in Abuja.
According to his media aide, Seyi Olorunsola, the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the professional body and the ministry, particularly in advancing estate valuation practices and contributing to the reduction of Nigeria’s housing deficit.
The delegation stressed the need to adopt modern valuation techniques and uphold professional standards to support the country’s economic and developmental goals.
Commending the minister for his leadership since assuming office, the NIESV representatives pledged their full support for the housing sector reforms under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

They also advocated for greater recognition and equitable treatment of estate surveyors and valuers within the Nigerian Civil Service framework.
Minister Atah, in his remarks, congratulated the Institute on the celebration of International Estate Valuation Day and acknowledged the pivotal role estate valuers play in national development.
He urged the body to fully align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, emphasizing that their professional expertise is vital to the success of the administration’s Renewed Hope Housing Program.
“I see estate valuers as key partners in providing accurate land and property valuations that reflect true market values.”
“This is essential for the government to develop cost-effective housing strategies and foster investor confidence in the real estate sector,” Minister Atah stated.

The minister further reaffirmed his openness to collaboration, innovation, and strategic partnerships that will drive results in line with the administration’s housing vision.
He encouraged NIESV members to act as ambassadors of the Renewed Hope Housing Program and assured them of his continued support.
In anticipation of the NIESV’s 55th Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled for May 5 to 10, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel, Atah extended his goodwill and expressed optimism that the conference, themed “TRANSFORM, INVEST, THRIVE: Optimizing Real Estate Asset Finance and Taxation,” would be impactful in repositioning the sector for growth.
