Tragedy struck in the early hours of Thursday as a 35-year-old officer of the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Yahaya Isma’il Idris, lost his life after reportedly being pushed off a moving truck along Maiduguri Road in Kano.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama broke the news via his official handle on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that the incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on April 24.
According to his report, Idris had stopped the truck for failing to carry a waybill and boarded it to inspect its contents, but the driver accelerated and sped off, leading to a deadly turn of events.
Idris was allegedly pushed out of the speeding vehicle by two passengers near the Muhammadu Buhari Interchange flyover.

He sustained critical injuries from the fall and was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.
The truck driver, identified as 25-year-old Yakubu Abdulsalam, along with passengers Tunde Momodu and Sagir Yusuf, has been arrested by the police. All three are currently in custody.
Grassroots Parrot learned that a full investigation is ongoing to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident. The Kano State Police Command has vowed to ensure that justice is served.
KAROTA is yet to release an official statement, but sources within the agency describe Idris’s death as a major loss to the organization.
