The Kano State Police Command has successfully recovered and returned the sum of four million eight hundred and fifty thousand naira (N4,850,000) to its rightful owner following a recent kidnapping incident.
Grassroots Parrot reports that the victim, a resident of Zakirai Town, Gabasawa Local Government Area (LGA), was kidnapped on March 8, 2025, with the abductors demanding a ransom of fifteen million naira.
A statement by the police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa on Thursday, said police operatives apprehended five suspects and successfully rescued the victim on March 17, 2025.
Kiyawa said the recovered funds were formally handed over to the owner through the Chairman of Gabasawa LGA, Hon. Sagir Usman Abubakar, who expressed his gratitude to the Kano State Police for their swift response and professionalism in handling the case.

“This exemplary action by the Kano State Police Command reassures us that security agencies are working tirelessly to combat crime and protect lives and property. We commend their dedication and effectiveness in resolving this matter,” Hon. Abubakar stated.
The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police (CP) Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, as reaffirming the commitment of the Kano State Police Command to ensuring the safety and security of residents, emphasizing that justice will be served.
He encouraged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement by providing valuable information to aid in crime prevention and investigation.
