Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State on Saturday launched the construction of a 5-kilometre road project at Kunchi town in Ghari Local Government Area.
The exercise is part of his administration’s efforts to construct a 5-kilometre road in all local governments across the state.
A statement by Sanusi Bature, the governor’s media aide, indicated that the project was initiated during the second tenure of Sen. Rabi’u Kwankwaso in his bid to develop rural communities, but was not continued by the succeeding administration.

It quoted Yusuf as commending the people of the area for their patience, support and cooperation.
He was also quoted as instructing the contractor handling the project to mobilise to site “within one week”.
He warned that failure to do so would compel the government to terminate the contract.
Earlier, Yusuf had inaugurated a township road in Yandadi town after inspecting the Kano State College of Education and Preliminary Studies, Ghari.
