Jigawa: Four Houses Burnt To Ashes As Drunk Driver’s Car Rammed Into Residential House

JIGAWA CAR INCIDENT

The Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects, who drove a motor vehicle under alleged influence of alcohol and rammed into a residential building, making four houses “burnt into ashes” in the state.

The police’s spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, in a statement on Monday, confirmed the incident, saying that suspects Muhammad Galadima and Abdullahi Abubakar Sadiq were now in their custody.

Adam explained that the vehicle rammed into a residential building in Dutse, collapsed the wall, and penetrated a living room of the house where a woman and her children were sleeping, although no life was lost.

He said as a result, both the vehicle and the entire house were engulfed in flames, which affected three other neighboring houses that were also burnt to ashes.

The statement reads: On 29/12/2024 at about 0030hrs, information was received at Elpies Street, Mobile Quarters Dutse, that one Muhammad Galadima ‘m’ age 32yrs and one Abdullahi Abubakar Sadiq ‘m’ age 41yrs all of the above mention address, suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, dangerously drove one Toyota Corolla with reg no. NSR 120 BC, rammed into a residential building, collapsed the wall and drove straight to the living room where the woman and her children were sleeping.

As a result of which, both the vehicle and the entire house were engulfed into a flames, which affected three (3) others neighboring houses that were also burnt to ashes.

On receipt of the report, team of policemen raced to the scene, the inferno was extinguished by the combine efforts of fire fighters and good samaritan.

Although, no life was lost. But preliminary investigation revealed that, the said Muhammad Galadima who was later identified as the owner of the vehicle, deliberately handed over the key to Abdullahi Abubakar Sadiq who confessed does not know how to drive.

Both the suspects and the vehicle have been taken into custody for diligent investigation. Upon completion of thorough investigation, all the suspects will be prosecuted accordingly.
