The Chairman of the House Committee on Housing and Habitat, Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, has called for immediate reconciliation between former Kano State Governors Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Speaking during a radio interview in Kano on Thursday, Jibrin described the prolonged feud between the two political stalwarts as unfortunate and detrimental to the progress of Kano State.
Jibrin emphasized the need for well-meaning citizens to unite in fostering peace between Kwankwaso and Ganduje, highlighting their significant contributions to public service.
“Not everyone is chosen by God to hold these offices,” Jibrin remarked. “They have both been uniquely blessed, and it is our responsibility to reconcile them.”

Kwankwaso’s career in public service began in the Kano State Civil Service, eventually leading to his tenure as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, two terms as Governor of Kano State, Minister of Defence, Senator, and a presidential aspirant.
On the other hand, Ganduje’s public service journey includes serving as a director in the Federal Capital Territory, commissioner, deputy governor, two-term governor of Kano, and currently the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Jibrin commended the achievements of both leaders but lamented that their unresolved differences have negatively impacted Kano’s political landscape.
“As Muslims, it is our duty to do the right thing by reconciling them. They were once close friends and accomplished many things together. What is happening now is sad and painful. This is a time to embrace peace, unity, and progress,” he said.

The lawmaker urged supporters of both leaders to put aside political differences and work towards fostering unity.
He also appealed to the leaders themselves to set an example by attending each other’s family events, such as weddings, as a gesture of goodwill.
“Let us see Kwankwaso attending the wedding of Ganduje’s daughter and Ganduje attending the wedding of Kwankwaso’s son. Politics is their choice, but reconciliation is our duty,” Jibrin noted.
Jibrin concluded his appeal by praying for those opposing reconciliation efforts, asking Allah to guide them to the right path. He reiterated that healing the rift between Kwankwaso and Ganduje is essential for the betterment of Kano State and its people.
