A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State, where two women lost their lives after falling into a water puddle, Grassroots Parrot reports.
The victims, who were workers at a local zobo processing company, reportedly entered the puddle to wash themselves after completing their shift.
The Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, said the agency received a distress call at around 11:15 a.m. from the Commander of the Vigilante Group in Gezawa, alerting them to the situation.
Relatives of the deceased also confirmed that the women, unaware of the danger, entered the water with the intention of cleaning up after work.

Unfortunately, the situation took a fatal turn, resulting in both women drowning.
Abdullahi noted that search operations had actually commenced the previous evening, but it wasn’t until the following morning that the rescue team was able to retrieve the victims—both already unconscious.
“Despite efforts to resuscitate them, they were confirmed dead at the scene.” Abdullahi stated.
He added that their remains have since been handed over to Officer Musa Garba of the Gezawa Police Division for further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
