The Forum of Chiefs in Nigeria (FCN) has expressed strong approval of the Federal High Court ruling that nullified the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II by Governor Abba Yusuf.

The Chiefs described the ruling as a significant victory of justice over injustice, light over darkness, and truth over falsehood.

Grassroots parrot had reported the Federal High Court ruling, which nullified the reinstatement of Sanusi Lamido II as the 16th Emir of Kano State.

The judgment, delivered on Thursday, June 20, 2024, also annulled all steps taken by the Kano State government to repeal the Kano Emirates Law.

Justice Abdullahi Liman of the Federal High Court in Kano criticized the actions taken by Governor Abba Yusuf.

He highlighted that the governor had approved the amended Kano Emirate law and presented an appointment letter to Sanusi on May 24, 2024, despite a court order for all parties to maintain the status quo. This, the judge stated, was in direct violation of the court’s directive.

However, the FCN, in a statement signed by its President, Chief Ameh Adaji, and Secretary General, Chief Danladi Etsu, praised the judge for his integrity and courage in the face of political pressures.

“We warmly applaud the landmark judgment annulling the reinstatement of Sanusi Lamido as Emir of Kano. This verdict is a resounding triumph of justice over injustice, light over darkness, and truth over falsehood,” the statement read.

The Forum also commended Emir Ado Bayero for his resilience and dedication to peace and stability in Kano, despite facing significant challenges. “Despite the attempts to dethrone and humiliate him, Emir Bayero has remained steadfast, refusing to be drawn into the fray. Your Royal Highness, we salute you!” the statement added.
