Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde, has reportedly passed away at the age of 61 in Egypt.
According to The Nation online platform, which cited ‘close associates,’ Lamorde died on Sunday in Egypt during a procedure to remove stone which had been causing him some discomfort.
Grassroots Parrot gathered that the late EFCC chairman actually flew his wife to Egypt for treatment before he also decide to remove the kidney stones, He died in the process of the procedure to remove the stone, the source stated.

Born on December 20, 1962, Lamorde had a distinguished career in law enforcement. He joined the Nigerian Police in 1986 and rose through the ranks to retire as a Deputy Inspector General of Police in 2021.
Lamorde is best known for his tenure as the third executive chairman of the EFCC, where he served from 2011 to 2015.
His leadership began in an acting capacity on November 3, 2011, following the removal of Farida Waziri by then-President Goodluck Jonathan.
Lamorde was later confirmed as the substantive chairman of the commission by the Senate on February 15, 2012.
