The Federal Government has announced that only graduates of full-time Higher National Diploma (HND) programs will be eligible for mobilization into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
This declaration was made by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, following discussions with the Director-General of NYSC.
In a statement released by Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press & Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, it was clarified that part-time HND graduates will not be eligible for NYSC mobilization.
The statement emphasized that this policy reflects the Ministry’s commitment to equity, fairness, and inclusivity in the nation’s education system.

To ensure a smooth implementation, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has been directed to fast-track the collation of data for eligible HND graduates.
“All Rectors of Polytechnics have been instructed to upload the necessary graduate data onto the newly created HND admission portal,” Folasade stated.
Dr. Alausa reaffirmed that the NYSC scheme is exclusively for full-time HND graduates, urging those eligible to take advantage of this opportunity and complete their mobilization process without delay.
He also reiterated the government’s dedication to fostering equal opportunities for all qualified Nigerian graduates and ensuring their participation in national development through the NYSC scheme.
