The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has called on the people of Kano State to remain calm and prayerful following the recent Court of Appeal ruling on the ongoing monarchy crisis.
Speaking for the first time since the judgment was delivered, Emir Sanusi addressed worshippers at his palace in Kano City after Friday prayers, urging patience and unity.
“As you all know, the monarchy succeeded in court today,” he said. “The Court of Appeal upheld that the Federal High Court has no jurisdiction over this case.”

“For eight solid years, this dispute has lingered, causing confusion in Kano State, but Allah’s will has prevailed. I urge the people to remain patient and prayerful.”
Earlier on Friday, the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, led by Justice Muhammad Mustapha, ruled that the Federal High Court in Kano lacked the jurisdiction to handle the emirate dispute.
The court directed the Chief Judge of Kano State to assign a new judge at the state High Court to review the case involving key stakeholders, including the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, the Kano State Government, the 16th Emir Muhammad Sanusi II, and the Kano State Assembly.
The protracted dispute over the Kano emirate has been a source of tension in the state, but Emir Sanusi expressed optimism that the court’s ruling would pave the way for resolution and stability.
