A Magistrate Court in Nomansland, Fagge LGA of Kano State has ordered the remand of a driver and two others over the alleged theft of jewellery, cash, and a mobile phone belonging to the wife of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
The suspects—Sulaiman Yakubu Kulkude, Idris Musa, and Abdullahi Usaini—were arraigned on charges of conspiracy, theft, and receiving stolen property.
According to the prosecution, Sulaiman, who works as the Emir’s wife’s driver, allegedly entered her room and stole jewellery valued at about ₦60 million, along with cash and a mobile phone.

While Sulaiman pleaded guilty to the charges, the other two defendants denied involvement. Defence counsel subsequently filed an application for bail.
In his ruling, Magistrate Halilu Abdurahman granted bail with strict conditions, including a ₦10 million bond and a surety who must be a father or brother and a civil servant not below Grade Level 15.
The case was adjourned to April 14 for further hearing, with the defendants to remain in custody until they meet the bail conditions.
