A Magistrate Court sitting in Kano has ordered the Kano State Hisbah Board to facilitate the marriage of two popular TikTok content creators, Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda, within 60 days.
The order, issued by Magistrate Halima Wali on Monday, October 20, 2025, followed a case involving the duo’s appearance in viral videos deemed “indecent” by the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board.
In her ruling, Magistrate Wali warned that failure to conduct the marriage within the stipulated period would amount to contempt of court, stressing that the decision was in line with efforts to uphold public morality.
The court also directed the Chairman of the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board to supervise the implementation of the marriage order in collaboration with the Hisbah Board.

According to the Censorship Board, the viral videos featuring Mai Wushirya and Yar Guda violated state laws prohibiting the production and circulation of sexually suggestive or obscene materials.

The two content creators had earlier been arraigned before the court for allegedly producing and sharing the videos on social media. The clips, which showed the pair engaging in romantic gestures, sparked widespread reactions online and were condemned by authorities as contrary to moral and religious values in Kano State.

Mai Wushirya was previously remanded in a correctional facility after footage of him shirtless and engaging in what officials described as “immoral and demeaning acts” surfaced online. His co-creator, Yar Guda, was also questioned by the Censorship Board’s enforcement team before the matter was formally transferred to court.
The case has since generated significant public debate, with many social media users expressing mixed reactions to the court’s marriage order.
