Former President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday placed a congratulatory call to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the occasion of his birthday.
Buhari’s media aide, Garba Shehu, disclosed details of the conversation in a press statement on Saturday, highlighting the appreciation and goodwill shared between the two leaders.
During the call, Buhari expressed deep gratitude for Tinubu’s pivotal role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his contributions to the party’s victories in the 2015 and 2019 general elections.
“When we pray for our leaders, we are praying for ourselves and the nation. We owe this to ourselves and the country,” Buhari said.

The former president went on to describe Tinubu as “a party stalwart, a staunch activist, a reliable ally, and a serial winner of democratic elections.”
“I am truly proud of my association with Asiwaju,” he added.
Buhari reaffirmed his confidence in the APC’s vision for Nigeria, stating that the party’s mandate, first secured in 2015, was to build a better future for the nation. He expressed satisfaction in seeing Tinubu continue on this mission of governance and national development.
In addition to his birthday wishes, Buhari also extended Ramadan and Eid greetings to Tinubu, his family, and the entire Nigerian populace.
Buhari handed over power to Tinubu in 2023 after completing his constitutionally allowed two terms spanning eight years in office.
