Sheikh Muhydeen Ajani Bello, a widely respected Islamic scholar and preacher from Oyo State, Nigeria, has passed away at the age of 84.

His death was confirmed by Sheikh Akewugbagold Taofeek, an Ibadan-based cleric, through a heartfelt Facebook post on Friday.

Sheikh Akewugbagold expressed deep grief at the loss, describing Sheikh Bello as a fearless and inspiring figure in Islamic scholarship. In his post, he prayed for Allah’s mercy on the scholar’s soul, saying:

“Today is one of my saddest days! My father and mentor has returned to his Creator. SULTONUL WAHIZEEN of Yorubaland Sheikh Muhyideen AJANI BELLO, may Allah be pleased with your soul. Aljannah Firdaus for you. Our heart is full of grief, and our eyes full of tears, but we will say nothing but what will please our Creator, the sole commander of life and death – ALLAH.”

His contributions to Islamic knowledge and his fearless approach to preaching earned him widespread respect.

May Allah grant him Aljannah Firdaus and give his family and followers the fortitude to bear this great loss.
