The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo has suspended Dana Airline operations due to concerns surrounding the safety and financial viability of their operations.
One of the airline’s craft with registration number 5N BKI skidded off the runway at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Tuesday morning.
The affected aircraft, identified as a McDonald Douglas (MD-83) had a total of 83 passengers on board at the time of the event.
According to Mr. Kingsley Ezenwa, the spokesman for the airline, all passengers and crew onboard the flight disembarked safely without any injuries. In a statement issued by Dana Air, Ezenwa expressed regret over the runway incursion incident.

“Dana Air regrets to inform the public of a runway incursion involving one of our aircraft, registration number 5N BKI, which was flying from Abuja to Lagos today, 23/04/24,” said Ezenwa.
He further added, “We are relieved to confirm that all 83 passengers and crew onboard the flight disembarked safely without injuries or scare as the crew handled the situation with utmost professionalism.”
Following the incident, Dana Air has informed the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and grounded the aircraft involved for further investigation by their maintenance team.
