Bobrisky Smuggled 8 ATMs Into Kirikiri, Paid N35m To Live Large, Lagos Tradional Ruler Alleges

Fresh controversy has erupted over the recent imprisonment of popular crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.

Grassroots Parrot reports that the Baale of Kirikiri Town, Chief Babalola Shabi, has accused officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service of facilitating a bribery scheme to grant Bobrisky VIP treatment during his time in custody.

In a town hall meeting organized by the Lagos State Police Command on Saturday, Shabi, popularly known as “Baale No-Nonsense,” claimed that Bobrisky smuggled eight ATM cards into the Kirikiri custodial facility.

According to Shabi, Bobrisky used the ATMs to funnel a total of N35 million through Point of Sale operators to bribe prison officials. This, he alleged, ensured Bobrisky’s preferential treatment during his incarceration.

Shabi further revealed that, contrary to public belief, Bobrisky never fully served his sentence behind bars but was housed in a private apartment outside the prison, allegedly arranged by corrupt correctional officers.

The Baale said it was through his intervention that the scandal was uncovered. He added that he had invited POS operators in the community to his palace, leading to an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“This was not a one-man job,” Shabi stated, emphasizing the organized nature of the bribery scheme. He also disclosed that the property where Bobrisky was kept had been identified and demolished, and both the EFCC and the Department of State Services (DSS) had questioned him over the incident.

The traditional ruler’s claims contradict a National Assembly report that had stated Bobrisky remained within the prison premises during his sentence but still enjoyed special treatment.

Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in prison in 2024 for abusing the naira and was released in August of the same year.

Recall that controversial social critic, Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, had previously shared an audio recording in which Bobrisky allegedly confessed to paying N15 million to EFCC officials to drop a money laundering charge against him.
